I have been practicing on the silks I have at my house now, but they only barely touch the ground making it difficult to practice harder moves closer to the ground. I am looking to buy new silks, about 15-20 yards, not too stretchy and for a good price. The color doesn't really matter, as I'm only in the beginner stage and I'm not looking to perform any time soon.
Online stores seem to average at about $12 per yard, but there's got to be something cheaper than that! I'm also ok with buying used ones... as long as their still in good condition.
Where do you buy your silks? How much do you pay?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Sat, July 25, 2009 - 12:20 AMTrapeze Arts, the place I work, sells silks at $10 a yard. You can also buy silks at fabricdepotco.com/ , for less than that. That is where I purchased mine. -

Sat, July 25, 2009 - 1:01 AMFabric Depot, in Texas, by the way, sells fabric only. They are not a circus company. From the website it is not apparent how to get to the catalog page that shows the 40 denier tricot used in aerial tissue (also called silks). I suggest calling Susan at Fabric Depot. She is very helpful and will be familiar with aerialists wanting to buy 40 denier tricot for aerial arts.
You can buy a sample packet of all the colors they offer for only $2.00. There is quite a variety of color choices, I love that!
